Archived news
Dear Members and Friends,
The new season is almost upon us and there is a bit of information to share with you.
REGISTRATIONS
You may have even received an email from Athletics NSW advising that registrations are open. Whilst that is true I ask that you hold off registering for the moment until I advise you that we are ready to go. Your 2018-2019 registrations cover you until the end of September 2019. We only got access to the new rego system a couple of days ago so we are still setting up the site and we only got information regarding the Athletics NSW core fees late last week. The structure of this year's membership packages are streamlined so I am still digesting this and working on finalising the registration booklet. We have received the championship calendar from Athletics NSW but they have not yet scheduled the Trelor Shield and other non-championship events are yet to be scheduled. If these are not released in the next few days we will need to send an interim handbook out with an incomplete calendar pending a final version when all dates are available.

WEBSITE
Our website is up and running at a new domain name so to access it type www.gac.org.au. It will take a little while before Google properly maps its search engine to us. Tonight I should receive the new email addresses for key roles including mine, Treasurer, Secretary, Registrar, Web Administrator etc. These will be made available once those officials are up and running. The old email addresses on the girraweenathleticsclub.com domain no longer work but eventually once we get that domain name back will be linked to the new addresses.

COMPETITION
Competition commences on Saturday 14 September 2019, at 2pm. Please arrive early to help set up so we can start on time. We have decided not to increase the weekly ground fees.

WEST MET
The last point scoring West Met Cross Country event was last Saturday. This Saturday is presentation day at Heritage Park at Castle Hill. We will have several trophy winners after another successful winter for the club. There will be a free barbecue cooked by yours truly. I could use some assistance as there are lots of people to cook for.

TRAINING
Summer training has already commenced at CV Kelly Park on Monday and Wednesday nights. We normally start warming up on or before 6pm.

PARKRUN CHALLENGE
Several of our members have asked if we are going to do the parkrun challenge again this year. The short answer is yes. For those of you not familiar with this we will be scheduling one parkrun visit per month at either Parramatta, Rooty Hill, Rouse Hill or The Ponds. We will collect members age adjusted results and converting them to a point score provided that you have nominated or changed your nominated club to Girraween Athletics Club in your parkrun profile. Stay tuned for more information and instructions on how to change your parkrun profile.

THANK YOU
To all of those who work tirelessly behind the scene to coordinate competition, results, publicity, teams, web updating and otherwise volunteering to support this great club. Thanks also to those who participate in our activities whether it be competition, training, fundraising etc as you help make our club great. Thanks also for strengthening our reputation as being the friendly club.

I  hope to see as many of you as possible at our summer competition on Saturday afternoons.

Regards
Wayne Thurlow
President GAC.

Congratulations to Lauren Tisdale on her Bronze medal
in the U18 Pole Vault event at the Oceania Games.

Here are some wonderful pics of Lauren Tisdale preparing for the Oceania Games. She will compete on Friday at 1 pm with a live steam if anyone wants to watch. Lauren had flown in yesterday and did a training session this morning at the track. She wasn’t overly thrilled as the wind was pretty strong. Good luck and best wishes to Lauren.
